Frequently asked questions
General Program
Information
How did Victory Reins get started?
After much prayer and soul searching to find my
purpose in life I had the opportunity to go out west to
Crystal Peaks Youth Ranch in Bend Oregon for there very
first informational clinic. After that visit with Kim &
Troy Meeder, I knew that I too was destined to combine
my passion for children and horses to help make a
difference in someone life.
How can I get my child involved?
Contact the office to schedule an appointment during
our open season. Since we have to base our lessons on
the weather we are usually open from Early April until
Late Nov. Or unless someone donates the fund to install
heaters in the arena. Which will then allow us to extend
our program throughout the year.
How can I send my child to the farm?
We want you to share the experiences that your
children will be exposed to and share in their joys and
accomplishments. You may find that it refreshes your
soul to be here and experience the farm through the eyes
of your child.
What kinds of children/adults does Victory Reins
serve?
Victory Reins serves children and adults from 3 years
to 76 years old. No matter if they are physically,
mentally or spiritually handicapped we are ready to have
them just come out and experience the joy and love that
only a horse can give. This is a place to be free and
enjoy what God had blessed us with by enjoying your
session with our volunteers who are here to serve you
and by getting to know all of our four legged friends.
What can I expect when I get there?
Be ready for some fun and hands on experience. You
may want to pitch in on the daily chores or just sit
back and relax by the pond in the back while we spend
time with your child. There are a variety of ages that
come here will all different gifts and talents so you
never know what’s in store for you. We let you explore
some of Gods most beautiful creatures and share in their
interactions with us as we go about our day.
What does a lesson consist of?
Depending on the capability of the rider/visitor.
Usually we start out by introducing you to one of our
ponies and educate you on horse behaviors and horse
care. Explaining each step along the way and letting you
do the hands on if you so desire. Lessons can consist of
grooming, bathing, feeding, cleaning a stall, riding,
turning out horses and watching them play. Each person
that comes to Victory Reins is unique in their own way
so we customize a lesson to fit your style and desires.

If I make a donation, where does it go?
All of the money donated to Victory Reins will go
directly to supporting the program and horses unless
specifically designated by the giver. The funds will be
used for program expenses, horse care, or to sponsor a
disadvantaged child.
Are donations tax deductible?
All Donations are tax deductible.
Victory Reins is a 501 (C) (3) non-profit program that
operates solely on donations and the dedication of our
volunteers. We are able to supply tax receipts for all donations
but are not limited to : monetary donations, horse tack,
farm equipment, feed, land, horses, building supplies
etc.
Can I donate my tack or horse equipment?
Absolutely! There is always a constant need for tack
that is in good condition or stable equipment such as
muck forks, wheel barrels, buckets etc. Since we use
everything on a daily basis it is in constant need of
repair or replacing. Please contact our office and we
will be more than happy to discuss your items with you.
If we are unable to use your tack or equipment we may
sell it to raise money for the farm or pass it on to a
good home. Contact Us
Can I donate my horse?
We have accepted horses from different situations
however they must posses the qualities that make then
safe to work around our children. They must be gentle
and agreeable in nature, physically and mentally capable
of working up to 4 sessions a day. Because of this
reason we are selective in the quality of horses that we
accept as donations. Because horse are unique in nature
some may prove to not be a good fit for our program. In
that case we would contact the donor first and see if
they would like their horse back or find a new home for
the horse so it could be comfortable in its
environment. We can usually tell after 30 days if they
will fit into the program. Please contact our office and
we will be more than happy to discuss this with you.

Session and Fact Sheet
How can I get my child scheduled for a session?
Please call us at 815-478-4879 and see what times and
sessions are available. We reserve a 6 week session for
your child and will continue to reserve your spot for as
long as you so desire. Please make a note that we do not
conduct lessons when the weather is below 20 degrees or
above 90 degrees.
What is the necessary paperwork that needs to be
completed?
Everyone who comes to the farm will need to sign a
release form because of the unpredictable nature of
horses and farm life. You and each person you bring is
required to have our current release form on file
or completed first thing upon arrival. Our insurance
dictates that anyone who does not have a current release
form can not be involved in any of our farm activities.
Do I need to stay on the property during my
child’s session?
Yes. Although you are free to sit and enjoy a good
book down by the pond , relax on a picnic table or in
your car , we require that you stay on the property so
we can find you in case of an emergency or if your child
needs you for any particular reason. We also encourage
you to observe your childs’ interaction with volunteers
and horses. It will open up a whole new world for you
and your child.
